Naomi’s Costume Journey
Naomi is a 3rd generation New Yorker born and raised in Flushing, Queens.
She has her MFA in Costume Design from Brandeis University and her BA from Queens College of CUNY where she joint majored in Theater and Studio Art with Minors in Art History and Textiles & Apparel. Naomi's diverse and eclectic body of work range from period dramas including The Featherweight (world premiere Venice International Film Festival 2023) and McVeigh (world premiere Tribeca Film Festival 2024) to contemporary high fashion horror in Appendage (Hulu exclusive, SXSW 2023) to the queer romantic comedy Things Like This (coming to theaters in 2025). New for Huluween 2024 is Mr. Crocket, where horror meets children’s TV, streaming now on Hulu. Naomi designed the costumes for indie festival favorites Voodoo Macbeth, Claire In Motion, Forgetting The Girl, Stones In The Sun and Churros (the short).
Naomi’s resume includes extensive experience as the assistant costume designer, background fitter and shopper for several network TV and streaming series and major motion pictures.
Naomi has designed the costumes for plays and musicals in and around New York City and the Boston area and has assisted on Broadway as well. She won the Ruth Morley Prize for Excellence in Costume Design and was nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award (Outstanding Costume Design, West Moon Street, Prospect Theater Company). When in production Naomi’s wit and positivity can be seen in her daily motivational dry erase #Naomiisms which she does for her costume and wardrobe teams then posts on Instagram @wolffie78 for general consumption.
While designing Off-Off-Broadway shows after graduate school, Naomi paid the bills temping at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with stints in 22 departments across the institution. The Met is her happy place. Naomi’s love of fashion, the history of dress and human psychology can be seen in her work creating characters and collaborating to dress people populating fictional worlds in all genres. Naomi’s love of art, baseball, nature, opera, birding and baking brought her to a village near Cooperstown where she enjoys her time off. When not on location for a film, Naomi and her husband, Marty, can be found in NYC or Milford in upstate New York.
She is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 and New York Woman in Film & Television.
